Description:

Mass Save is a Statewide program that offers homeowners, landlords, and tenants a variety of financial incentives to improve home efficiency. Available rebates and incentives available are divided into four categories: heating and cooling, weatherization, lighting and appliances, and building a home.

Low-Income Benefits:

Several improvements and incentives are available at no cost through the Income Eligible Program and the Enhanced Residential Program. To see if you qualify, visit the Income Based Offers Page, or scroll down below the list of available incentives.

Available Incentives and Rebates:

Heating and Cooling

• Electric heating & cooling equipment (up to $500)
• Early heating & cooling equipment (up to $3,250)
• Gas heating equipment (up to $1,600)
• Oil heating equipment (up to $500)
• Propane heating equipment (up to $2,500)
• Electric heat pump water heaters (up to $750)
• Gas water heaters (up to $750)
• Oil water heaters (up to $500)
• Propane water heaters (up to $600)
• Wireless & programmable thermostats (up to $125)
• Save on installation of high-tech thermostat (discounted price + no-cost installation)
• Gas, oil & propane outdoor boiler reset controls (up to $225 rebate)
• Gas heat recovery ventilators (up to $500 rebate)

Weatherization

• 75% to 100% off insulation, plus no-cost air sealing of leaks in drafty area of your home

Lighting and Appliances 

• Advanced power strips (price discounts available)
• Refrigerator replacement (up to $400)
• Clothes dryers ($50 rebate)
• Clothes washers (Must be pre-qualified through home energy assessment)
• Dehumidifiers ($30 rebate)
• LED light bulbs (Price discounts available)
• Light fixtures (Price discounts available)
• Refrigerator replacement (up to $400) Note: Must be pre-qualified through home energy assessment
• Refrigerators & Freezer recycling (schedule a no cost pickup)
• Room air cleaners ($40 rebate)
• Room air conditioners ($40 rebate)
• Shower fixtures (Price discounts available)

Building a Home

• Single Family and Low Rise Multi-Family New Construction (3 stories or lower) – Incentives are available for building an energy efficient new home
• High-Rise Multi-Family New Construction (4 stories or higher) – Incentives for qualifying projects.

You may be eligible for enhanced benefits if you fall into one of the following income categories:

Income Eligible Program:

If you are an income eligible resident of Massachusetts residing within a 1-4 unit home looking to save on your energy bills and increase your home’s comfort, there are a range of programs designed to help you. Residents who are eligible are within the income range listed above.

Benefits:

Energy efficiency services provided at no-cost through this program may include:

• Installation of instant energy savings products such as energy efficient LED light bulbs, advanced power strips, faucet aerators, low-flow showerheads, and more
• Evaluation of your existing refrigerator, freezer, window AC unit, clothes washer and/or dehumidifier to determine if it is inefficient and eligible for a no-cost replacement with an energy efficient model
• No-cost replacement of an existing boiler or furnace if the existing heating system is determined to be inefficient and eligible for replacement
• Weatherization upgrades at no-cost including additional insulation in your attic, wall, and basement as well as sealing the drafty areas of your home to help you save up to 25 percent of your energy costs each year

For Landlords: Similar energy efficiency services and products are also available to Multi-Family properties with 5 or more units where 50 percent or more of the tenants are at the designated income eligible levels listed above.

For Tenants: Customers residing in Multi-Family properties with 5 or more units where 50 percent or more of the tenants are at the designated designated income eligible levels above should have their landlord or property manager submit a request

Enhanced Residential Program

Description:

If you qualify and your energy provider is Berkshire Gas, Blackstone Gas, Cape Light Compact, Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, Eversource, Liberty, National Grid, and Unitil, you are available for enhanced incentives.

Enhanced Incentives

• No-cost insulation (compared with the standard offer of 75% off insulation)
• $200 refrigerator rebate (compared to the standard $150 refrigerator rebate)
• $400 clothes washer rebate (compared to the standard $350 clothes washer rebate)
